LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy

Queer & Trans-Affirming Therapy in Los Angeles
& online across the state of California

"I believe that telling our stories, first to ourselves and then to one another and the world, is a revolutionary act."

- Janet Mock

If you are a member of the LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, Intersex, Asexual, + more) community, or someone who is exploring, questioning, or deconstructing ideas about sexuality or gender, you deserve a safe and supportive therapeutic space where your identity and expression are validated and celebrated! Gender and sexual minorities face disproportionate rates of anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns because of the stress and trauma of homophobia, discrimination, and the daily experience of living in a cis-normative and hetero-normative world. I specialize in working with queer, trans, and non-binary individuals because I believe in the value and importance of finding a therapist who understands these challenges and will hold space for your identity and unique experiences.

Maybe you are seeking therapy because you’ve just come out, or you’re questioning something about sexuality or gender that you’d like to keep exploring. Maybe you’re struggling with anxiety about relationships because you’re new to being out and dating. Maybe you’ve just realized you’re bisexual or pansexual, but aren’t sure what that means for your existing relationship now. Maybe you are seeking affirming health care procedures or need support while transitioning. Maybe you’ve been out and proud for years, but you need help managing anxiety, relationship issues, or dealing with a recent loss - and you want a therapist who you don’t have to educate about queer issues. Or maybe you’re ready to do some deeper trauma work, but you want to make sure your therapist isn’t going to pathologize your identity in the process.

In our work together, you will have a supportive place to process and make sense of your experiences and journey. You can work through relationship challenges, social anxiety, self-esteem issues, and negative past experiences. You can learn to care for yourself compassionately, accept parts of yourself you may have been shamed about in the past, and cultivate queer joy in your life. If even just reading that sentence brings up some emotion, you’re not alone - many of us have absorbed so much stress and so many negative messages in our lives that it is hard to imagine breaking free of their impact on us. But you can - you can find your voice, share your story, and shape the path of your future.

I understand how important it is to be able to connect with a therapist who is not just affirming but also knowledgeable and able to understand your unique experience and needs. I work from an intersectional feminist, anti-racist, and social-justice-informed approach to help my clients examine and navigate the impact of growing up and living in a hetero-normative and cis-normative dominant culture. I love helping queer, trans, and non-binary folx grow more confident in themselves, their identities, and their right to take up space in the world.
