Film/TV, Entertainment Industry, & other Creative Professionals

“Making movies is a hard thing, and it's slow. So you can glorify the product, but the process is difficult no matter who you are.”

- Greta Gerwig

It’s not always as glamorous as it looks in the movies, right? Being an artist, working in film & television, the entertainment industry, or other creative professions can be exhausting and demanding work! And the culture of arts and entertainment can be especially fraught for BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ individuals, women, and trans and non-binary folx. As an artist, you’re passionate about your creative work, and something keeps drawing you to it - but you want to figure out how to take care of yourself while following that passion, and find a sense of balance so you don’t burn out.

I have a background in visual arts, and previously worked in the film & tv industry before becoming a therapist - so I know the challenges of early call times and long days on set; the financial pressures of working freelance; the issues that can come up around boundaries when crew members spend 12+ hours a day together; and the stress this work can place on your mental health, personal life, and relationships.

Maybe you’re dealing with stress related to the pressure and long hours of the industry. Maybe you’re having difficulty navigating interpersonal relationships on set. Maybe you’re a freelancer experiencing imposter syndrome and anxiety as you look for your next job. Maybe you’re struggling with depression or wanting to heal from trauma - but you’d like a therapist who has an understanding of what the industry culture is like, and how that may be impacting you. Or maybe you’re not in the industry yourself, but you’re dating or partnered with someone who is, and having trouble dealing with the stress that can put on a relationship.

Whatever it is that is bringing you to therapy, I welcome you and look forward to creatively collaborating with you. I love being able to use my background in the arts and the entertainment industry to help clients manage stress, improve their relationships and well-being, and continue working on the projects that bring meaning to their lives!
